You can also mix and match these as you please and as feelings come and go. Happy Valentine's Day to all of my viewers! I know this day gives people many diverse feelings, so I want to talk about it! Valentine's Day is a wonderful day for those who are in love, in a relationship, married, happy, etc. It's a day that you can explicitly tell and show someone you love them (not that you need an excuse to do that only one day a year...). Some people have a valentine every year while others don't. It's also a day that some call "Single's Awareness Day." Which, is quite fitting simply because if you're not in a relationship where you show and tell someone how much you love them....then you're single and the day makes you quite aware of it. These people have different ways of approaching this day. 1- They can have a friend be a valentine and it be more like galentine's day (this is mostly for women) 2- Go do something you enjoy with a friend or by yourself and have a drink (or two) 3- Accept singleness and don't care, do homework and be on Facebook 4- For the Believers: know that Jesus is your Valentine (John 3:16), and He loves you You can also mix and match these as you please and as feelings come and go. I won't lie: when you're aware of your singleness, it just plain sucks. Especially when you have had a real valentine in the past. But you have to remember that it's okay. Pick one of the other more enjoyable options and enjoy life. You're not going to be single forever and neither are your friends. Go out and have fun. Eat chocolate together (today its perfectly okay to eat your feelings). Have a glass of wine. Watch a movie (not a sappy one that will make you regret watching a movie). Whatever you do, don't get down on yourself for not having a significant other on this day. Yours will come, just be patient. One day you will be that person who gets to go out for Valentine's Day with your person while others have to deal with their emotions and lack of a partner. What is a holiday without history? How much do you know about Valentine's Day? I knew a little about it's history, but I did some research just in case. Here's what I found out:
I think he should be a wonderful reminder on this day. For those who have the ability to celebrate Valentine's Day with their significant other, thank St. Valentine for taking a stand for love. For those who have the ability to celebrate Single's Awareness Day, let St. Valentine be an example for you to fight for what you believe in and what you think is right. He didn't have to keep marrying people. He could have chosen to be afraid of Claudius. Instead, he chose to do what his heart told him was right. Choose what your heart says over what someone else claims is right. For This Time, Cambria
