Dear Mr.G, First of all, I wanted to thank you for never giving up on me. Thank you for always staying true to you and encouraging me to do the same. You were there during my awkward stages and those of uncertainty. You answered all of my millions of questions, as well as encouraged me when life got me down for whatever the reason was that day or week. Mr. G, I want to thank you because you made a difference in my life, and, because of that, I am the woman I am today. Your sarcasm kept my class interested and your passion for teaching us made me appreciate you all the more. From nicknames you gave us and the relationships you built to never knowing what you would find (or not find) when you walked into a classroom filled with my class, you always wanted us to succeed.
It took a long time for me to realize how good I had it with my teachers, and how much you did for your students. I hope one day I can be there for you because you were always there for me when I needed it. You came into my life during a time when life was confusing, and the way you treated me helped mold me, whether you knew it at the time or not. Mr. G, because of you, I want to give my life to do the same as you did for me; and pay it forward by being there for students that need molding, have millions of questions, and need loads of encouragement. The best part about all of this is that you are still a part of my life. You came to my high school graduation. You respond to my texts or have me call you randomly to update on life happenings. For 9 years you've been there for me, and I cannot thank you enough. There are few teachers or professors that I share a special bond with and even less I would go with on a wawa run with (do you remember that?) on the way back to a class destination. Only a few I can speak about as highly as I speak of you because I know you have been through hell and back on more than one occasion, and every time I talk to you, it's as if you're encouraging me rather than me trying to encourage you. There was only one teacher that I listed that wasn't a professor that I would want to speak on my behalf as a reference in an application, who would have thought it was my fifth grade basketball coach/6th grade Bible Teacher/7th (& 8th?) grade Social Studies Teacher. Thank you for giving me advice in different times in my life from how to deal with middle school boys to growing in my Walk to dealing with loss and figuring out together how to handle surprising news that affected the both of us. You could have just passed me by; you could have cut off ties once you were no longer my teacher - but you didn't. As I am training to become a teacher, I am well aware that lack of appreciation comes with the territory more often than not. I want to make sure that you never feel that way because I will always appreciate you regardless of the fact I am no longer a student of yours. Thank you for being an inspiration for me. If I even do a sliver for my students that you did for me, I will be well off. I hope one day one of my students tells me that because of me being their teacher, they want to become a teacher one day; then I can share about you and how you impacted my life to the point of me wanting to become a teacher also. Thank you cannot carry enough meaning behind it, but words cannot express how much I appreciate your existence and impact on my life. Thanks for never changing even though life does. For This Time, Cambria
